Day 29: Favorite Superhero Film

I know I already did favorite comic book movie, but a comic book doesn’t have to be a superhero movie as you can tell by my pick.  Now a days, superhero films are all the rage, being churned out seemingly at an infinite amount.  Some are worth while, while others are simply pieces of garbage.  So my favorite superhero film to date?  Simple.

The Dark Knight

I’m not sure that anyone can argue this, honestly.  I will admit Batman isn’t even my favorite superhero, that honor going to Iron Man, but The Dark Knight was simply a masterpiece superhero creation.  Nolan trounced what he accomplished with Batman Begins, which can obviously be backed up with its record-breaking box office numbers. From Ledger’s epic portrayal of the Joker to the flawless switching of Holmes to Gyllenhaal, The Dark Knight was an unprecedented success.  It put Iron Man to shame, which was heralded in its own right as one of the best superhero films to date.  I try to think of a better superhero film, and I just can’t.  Flawless victory.

It’s scenes like this that prove the superior…everything…in this movie.  I love the pencil trick.

Anyone care to weigh in?

About Matt Donato

I love all things film. I'll watch any genre, any actor, at any time. This whole film critic thing is a passionate hobby for now which I'm balancing with working in the business world, but hey, someday, who knows?
