Yeah, I got this. No, I’m not going with a simple pick like Inception or Memento. The movie I’m picking is for much different reasons of confusion…
The Human Centipede: First Sequence
Director Tom Six is a sick man. I’m confused by this film because I don’t know what it wanted to accomplish, or at least hope I don’t know. Calling it a horror would mean there would have to be some element of fear or terror. I’d understand if it was aiming for a campy B-movie vibe to laugh at. Putting it in the thriller/suspense category means it would have to entail some type of mystery. The Human Centipede does none of that, and just comes off as some twisted, demented torture film. It doesn’t scare, entertain, instill laughter, or present any kind of redeeming quality. Just some sick twisted dream meant to shock you…I guess? But it didn’t even do that. It just made me wonder why the hell it even existed in the first place. All films need some kind of purpose, and The Human Centipede does everything in its power to hide that purpose from you. Go ahead, see for yourself.
What about the rest of you. What movie racks you brain the most?
